Coronado Dog Beach

Cross the bridge to Coronado Island for a great day of  sightseeing, dining, and visiting Dog Beach!

It is located at the north end of the beach that the Hotel Del Coronado sits on, near Sunset Park and the Naval Base.

This beach is a favorite of most San Diego dogowners. It’s cleaner than many other beaches (this is Coronado after all) and there’s even a hose available to rinse the sand off your pup when you’re ready to go home, though it may not be on because of the drought.

Parking is a bit limited (again, this is Coronado) and the parking lot is quite far from the shore. But it is well worth the time to bring your best friend to play in the waves.

Your pup can get right into the water, but this area of the beach does have rip currents so you might not want to let your dog swim out too far.

Since the dog park is close to the Naval Base, it can also be quite loud with the planes flying overhead. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at the beach, but make sure that your dog isn’t easily scared. Since it is a dog beach, there’s no fence to keep your bud contained if he gets frightened and takes off because of the plane noise.
